I worked for WRAP, a global environmental NGO, for 12 years as an economist. During that time I worked with governments, corporations, and other institutions, developing environmental policy.

Crafting the outputs of the research in such a way that government ministers could digest the points quickly was vital. If not, the report just gets put in a desk, never to be seen again, and the opportunity to effect change is lost.

In 2021 I set up Carbon Risk, a newsletter focused on helping investors navigate climate policy, macro trends, and what it means for carbon markets. The power of brevity is no less important now than it was when writing to influence government ministers.
